Shashi Borade

Shashi Borade is a Portfolio Manager at Engineers Gate since 2015. The team he confounded treats the investing problem as a statistics problem and trades equities across the globe in a fully systematic manner. Before this entrepreneurial venture, he was a Vice President in the quantitative equities group at D. E. Shaw since 2008, where he worked on areas spanning forecasting, transaction cost modeling and optimization, and risk management. Besides his purely systematic work there, he cofounded a team for investment research at the boundary between qualitative and quantitative approaches. He was also instrumental in starting a systematic strategy for Indian markets.

Shashi received his Ph.D. (2008) and S.M. (2004) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT with a Presidential Fellowship.  Earlier, he received B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the IIT Bombay in 2002 and was awarded a Silver Medal for the best overall performance in Electrical  Engineering.
